Humberto Salazar, M.D., is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist with expertise in the diagnosis and surgical management of cataracts and glaucoma. His practice utilizes the latest technologies and techniques, including premium intraocular lens implantation, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and an array of medical, laser, and surgical glaucoma treatments. He is experienced in diagnosing and treating dry eye disease, diabetic eye disease, eye injuries, and other eye conditions.

As a bilingual, Mexican-American physician, Dr. Salazar takes pride in serving his community. He grew up in Monterrey, Mexico, and Laredo, Texas. Dr. Salazar earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas-Pan American in the Rio Grande Valley. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he also completed his internal medicine internship. Dr. Salazar completed his ophthalmology residency and glaucoma fellowship at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. Dr. Salazar is passionate about teaching the next generation of ophthalmologists, as well as staying up to date with surgical and medical advances. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

Dr. Salazar is thrilled to be back in Texas with his family to serve his community. He is extremely excited to join Ophthalmology Associates of San Antonio and partake in a tradition of compassion, collaboration, and excellent patient care. He loves what he does and looks forward to building a lasting relationship with his patients. In his personal time, Dr. Salazar loves to spend quality time with his wife and son, as well as with his extended family. He is an experienced drummer and saxophonist and enjoys collaborating with other passionate musicians. He also enjoys fitness, playing sports, and outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, riding motorcycles, and camping.
